Feline Facts – Superior Jumpers: The Caracal

Cats are generally known for their ability to make astounding leaps; however, today’s featured feline takes the cake for their vertical jumping prowess. The caracal is a mid-sized wild cat whose habitat stretches from Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, and parts of India. Visually, they’re probably best known for the adorable black tufts at the tips of their particularly prominent ears.

The caracal is especially adept at hunting birds (though it will also happily eat small mammals). These killer kitties are capable of vertically leaping over 10 ft (that’s 3 meters for our metric friends) to catch their prey on the wing!
