I don’t know why this popped into my head, but sometimes I get an an absurd intrusive idea stuck in my mind. It just stays there, rattling around. Mostly serving no purpose but to distract me. So… I figured I could share them with all of you, so even if I’m suffering, I’m doing so in excellent company!
That said, some people may not be familiar with what intrusive thoughts are. Intrusive thoughts are ideas that appear in your mind and plan to stick around for a while, no matter how unwanted they may be. They can vary from the absurd to the horrifying. The worst of them often focus on violent or destructive behaviors. Intrusive thoughts are a normal occurrence but are especially common among people who suffer from OCD, PTSD (or CPTSD), depression, anxiety disorders, and recently postpartum individuals.
If you or a loved one suffers from problematic intrusive thoughts (ones that are severe enough that they can interfere with your daily life, making it hard to concentrate on anything else), there are ways to help! You can try meditation or seek a pleasant distraction (such as a book or video game) and sticking to a regular routine can help ease the symptoms. If you find this doesn’t work, therapy and certain medications can help.
Something I absolutely cannot stress enough, however, is that intrusive thoughts are NOT a reflection of you, as a person. The worst of these thoughts tend to come from a place of fear and anxiety, not desire. Please do not be ashamed of these thoughts, and if you’re suffering, don’t be afraid to seek help. You are not a bad person because of these unwanted mental images!
The thoughts I intend to share here are those of a more lighthearted nature, and not meant to be taken seriously. They are here for comedic purposes only! Alright, sorry for the impromptu lecture! Onto why we’re here.
Thought of the Day:
I am thoroughly convinced that foxes are just cats wearing dog costumes.

-This random thought of the day was brought to you by me falling asleep while watching a TikTok by Lucy Goacher, who feeds her neighborhood foxes.
